Room and Board:

One of STA's student dormitories

STA can accommodate students in student housing on campus for $25 a night ($375 for the entire program) in double rooms with ensuite bathrooms.  Students are also free to make their own reservations in nearby hotels, though the STA strongly recommends the student housing for convenience.  A meal subsidy will be included for meals in the campus cafeteria.

Airfare and Transportation:

Students will need to book their own flights to and from Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG). Flights normally cost between $800-1300 round trip, depending on destination and which side of the country you are flying from.  To find the best deals on tickets, we recommend using Kayak, Google, or Bing travel search engines. Once admitted to the program, students will receive detailed instructions for how to get from the Pudong airport to the STA campus.

To explore the city, students may use the Metro system, which is inexpensive, extensive, easy to use, and English-friendly. The website and phone app Explore Shanghai is very helpful for navigating the city.

Taxi cabs are another great way to get around as they are affordable, plentiful, and convenient. However, students will need some Chinese, or the address of their destination written in Chinese characters, in order to communicate with the cab driver, as almost no drivers speak English.
