About STA
Shanghai Theatre Academy is China’s foremost arts education institution, the Julliard of China. Many of China’s most famous performers, such as movie star Fan Bingbing, are alumni of STA. The 62-year-old university has grown rapidly over the past 20 years, and now has 3000 full-time students, and 467 faculty members. STA offers 11 four-year BA majors, as well as masters and doctoral degrees covering all areas of the performing arts and arts education. The academy has four theater departments and five performing arts colleges:

- College of Continuing Education
The academy has three world-class campuses with seven performance venues, two major classroom buildings, three muti-purpose buildings, and two libraries. Student facilities include dormitories, dining halls and gymnasia.
STA is proud to host has academic and artistic exchange programs with institutions in 26 countries worldide. STA has set up cooperative relations with 14 universities, including Tisch School of the Arts, New York University; University of California, Davis; St. Petersburg State Institute of Theatrical Arts; Mysashino Art University, Japan; Roman Arts University, Italy; Academy of Fine Art in Bologna,Italy; Birmingham Institute of Art and Design, U.K.; School of Creative Media, and City University of Hong Kong. The academy also hosts the Asia-Pacific Center of the International Theatre Insititue, chaired by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO). Artistic exchange has flourished.
The Winter Institute, the first program of its kind, is the next milestone for STA’s mission to increase artistic exchange between China and the rest of the world.
